Overwatch's Lunar New Year event has officially begun and with it, several unique gameplay features are cause for celebration.
Players logging into Overwatch from Jan. 17 to Jan. 31 will see the commencement of the Lunar New Year Event, one of many events that occur annually to celebrate a real-life holiday. Luckily for players, this event comes with a selection of different gameplay modes that are sure to spice up some Overwatch gaming sessions.
Overwatch 2 Lunar New Year 2023 Modes
1. Competitive Capture the Flag
Modeled on the classic game mode, player teams will be able to fight the enemy team for a flag on the map. The team that has been able to keep it the most will be awarded the victory.
2. Capture the Flag Blitz
Similarly to the previous entry, this fast-paced version has the flags put in the center of the map. Players will be forced to make very quick decisions and play a more intense version of the Capture the Flag mode.
3. Bounty Hunter
For this mode, players will be on their own as they try and beat out several players trying to displace bounties. Bounty Hunter is a free-for-all mode that has players "kill or be killed" as they hunt other players with a bounty placed on their heads. Fight against opponents to stay alive and, for added danger, the players with bounties on their heads can be seen through walls.
Most games will take place on the Lijang Tower map in celebration of the Lunar New Year event.
Overwatch 2's Lunar New Year 2023 event will last from Jan. 17 to Jan. 31, 2023.
