The next-gen Dead Space remake will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC on Jan. 27, 2023, Motive announced Thursday.
After initially being revealed at the end of the EA Play Live 2021 showcase, and later having its arrival window set for Early 2023, Dead Space now has an official release date set in stone.
"Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive," Dead Space senior producer Phillippe Ducharme said in a press release, "as weâre true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. Itâs been equally exciting to see players' reactions as weâre taking them on this development journey with us.
"Weâre making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and weâre happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year. We canât wait for players, both old and new, to see how we've elevated the original experience in the remake to be just as impactful for this generation.
The news was dropped by Motive during its Crafting the Tension Art Developer Livestream, which gave players an extensive inside look on the classic sci-fi survival horror being brought to life for modern systems.
The remake is being built from the ground up, running on the Frostbite engine with rebuilt visuals, sound, gameplay, minor level designs and more, while still remaining respectful to the original.
Dead Space puts players in the boots of Isaac Clarke, an everyman engineer on a routine mission to fix a gigantic mining starship, the USG Ishimura. But aboard the Ishimura, a living nightmare awaits. The shipâs crew has been slaughtered and infected, and Isaacâs girlfriend, Nicole, is missing somewhere on board. Alone and trapped, with only his engineering tools and skills, Isaac faces a battle for survival â not only against terrifying monsters called Necromorphs, but his own crumbling sanity.
