Bungie States Support for Abortion Access Ahead of Possible Roe v. Wade Overturning

Destiny maker Bungie has issued a statement in support of abortion access and the Supreme Court decision that made it a national right, Roe v. Wade, after a leaked decision indicated that the same court is on track to overturn that decision.

"Standing up for reproductive choice and liberty is not a difficult decision to make, and Bungie remains dedicated to upholding these values," the company tweeted Tuesday.

"The leaked draft decision by the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade represents a blow to freedom in America and is a direct attack on human rights," it continued in its statement. "By creating a divide between those who posses the fundamental right to make healthcare decisions that are right for them, and those who do not posses that same freedom, this decision, should it become final, will have far-reaching consequences that will be felt for generations across socio-economic lines."

Bungie's statement comes in the wake of a Politico report that revealed the Supreme Court had voted to overturn its decisions in both Roe v. Wade and the subsequent Planned Parenthood v. Casey, effectively ending the right to an abortion nationwide.

Bungie urged readers to donate to several organizations that support access to reproductive healthcare, including URGE (Unite for Reproductive & Gender Equity), the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice, the NARAL Pro-Choice America Foundation and In Our Own Voice.

Bungie has espoused progressive positions in the past. On Juneteenth 2020, the company released the Be Heard Collectible Pin & Emblem in support of Black Lives Matter, profits from which were donated to the Equal Justice Initiative. DBLTAP spoke to one of the Bungie employees who helped organize that effort, Kareem Shuman, as part of our Black Creator Spotlight.
